John Campbell –
Just back from another exciting visit to the US supporting the Armacell WAM (World Class Armacell Mind-set) Audit Programme. This was my 3rd visit to both the Mebane and Conover plants in North Carolina to conduct the Mid-Year WAM audits with Roberto Mengoli, Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
I would like to thank both plants management teams for managing the full WAM audit agendas, ensuring we finished each day on time. It’s great to see the continuous improvement being made by both plants on their journey towards their Bronze Award accreditation. The Model areas are now being sustained as they move into the expansion phase. The Cost Deployment matrices are being refined each year, with the Conover Plant on track to be the first Armacell plant to cover 100% of total production site cost. The Autonomous and Professional Maintenance teams are really starting to ‘click’ as the shop floor personnel become further empowered, restoring basic conditions, developing and improving their Cleaning Inspection, Lubrication and Re-tightening (CILR) standards and using Visual Management techniques to help identify abnormal equipment conditions quickly. B-EWO and Q-EWO processes are now starting to make an impact attacking losses on the shop floor, bottom up. Good luck to both plants over the coming months and I look forward to my next auditing and coaching visit for the End Year audits later this year and remember “It’s All About The People”!
“Thank you for your audits and feedback last week in Mebane and Conover. As always, your observations and feedback were given in a positive way, helping motivate the teams to move ahead, correct our deficiencies and make more WAM progress.
I really enjoy working with both of you during these audits.”
